N95 gets telescope add-on! and i get it too!!

I just posted the other day about a 6x lens for the n95 as part of my Snap iT! series..and I'd concluded by giving a hint about a personal review for that accessory. And Guess what?! The guys at Brando just sent me a brand new Generic Mobile Phone Telescope.
This Generic Mobile Phone Telescope with flexible adapter to mount 7x18 telescope. It can use on most of mobile phones or PDAs. With this telescope, you can zoom to focus distant objects clearly and to make a high quality photograph easily.
You'll notice that with the telescope fitted on the n95 it actually looks like something from a Hitman Game!

Unlike what I'd figured, setting up the phone was very easy. In minutes of receiving the phone I'd got it all set-up and ready to shoot! To give you all a good idea of how much Zoom we can squeeze out of this lens, I've put up a video over here. After all seeing is believing! Especially in this case!! (don't mind the clarity, it's due to the 3GP conversion)

The lens is of very good build and is excellent bang for buck - I mean at 22 bucks it really is a steal! And what's more, all products bought this season get free shipping as part of their annual offer. Zooming is really easy with the lens and focussing is just as simple - you needn't worry if the image isn't perfect, the in-built Auto-Focus of the phone will set it right.

Another thing that needs to be pointed out is that when under image mode you'll see a dark shadow touching the corners, but that is easily cropped using the phones editor. The video doesn't have this problem though as shown in this video.

The second video featured is how to set-up the lens onto the N95, a simple little job as it is.

An N95 on Val's Day is a perfect idea

Gifting your girl friend a N95 would be the best gift ever. But whatif you have it with a cute lil' pink housing that comes with a softsmooth finish? Now that would be really something 'cuz she'd know thatyou really put your mind into giving her something nice, rather thanjust spending money on the best in the market. And when her friendssee the pink N95 they're bound to ask about it. nice eh? ;) Did you know that Darla Mack also has a pink one!!

DLNA for n95-2

Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced yesterday that the Nokia N95 8GB had the distinction of being the first ever mobile phone to receive Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certification. The DLNA is a body advocating the interoperability of wired and wireless consumer devices. For the consumer, this accolade translates into convenient and intuitive connectivity between your DLNA Certified home electronics devices, personal computers, and your Nokia N95 8GB.
DLNA technology enables multi-vendor home ecosystems of consumer devices by building a common connectivity platform for a variety of multimedia experiences. This vision is fully in line with the Nokia’s aspiration for openness and seamless interoperability between devices and services from different brands.

Worlds of Mobile And Social Networking..

The worlds of mobile and social networking keep circling each other but (the hibernating Jaiku aside) never seem to really hit it off. Ewan Spence has been looking at Zyb, an online sync host and social network that launched recently. How integrated is Zyb and is it worth signing up for yet?

"So Zyb has many things going for it, but most of these things are only slightly above what you would expect. You have solid sync, but that option is available from many companies, e.g. Mobical or GooSync. You have a no-frills social network competing with similar networks with much greater complexity.

But, most importantly, you have a mobile focussed product with very little mobile component to it. I’d love to come back in six months, see what’s happening on the handset and recommend Zyb then, because right now I don’t think “that’s cute and looks nice” is enough to give it more than a qualified nod of the head.

Koss P9 - perfect for Mobile users on the move

The Koss P9 In-Ear Headphones with Volume Control features a convenient volume control feature that can be easily adjusted on the fly. Lightweight with a comfortable behind-the-head design, these headphones are made to be worn for long periods of time and are perfect for listeners on the go. Compared with the regular headset available with the N95 the Koss P9 offers almost the same output in terms of sound, but the added bonus is that it has much more stylish looks.

One of the other applications that I found for it's side-firing design is that it's more wearable than usual headsets when your on a motorbike - it's design is kind of aerodynamic that there's less chance of the headset falling off when you're at high speed. Moreover the side-firing technology means you're more likely to hear horns and other external sounds from your surroundings - leading to a safer experience. Obviously no one would use Noise Cancelling Phones when on the road - you won't even hear the Traffic Police man's whistle!!

On the other hand it's sound isn't that much of a reason to go for it. It lacks the bass that Koss advertises so much, and the some frequencies are really bad. Upon comparison with the Standard Nokia headset that comes with the N95 - the Koss P9 is somewhat 80% there.

Straight, dual entry 4 foot cord Plug 3.5mm

Sensitivity 100 dB SPL/1mW

Mail for Exchange

If you're using Exchange for the corporate email, you should install the Mail for Exchange application. Mail For Exchange program will provide you with access to your Exchange mailbox.which also features push email. This way you won't have to check for emails each time, the email are pushed to your phone the second they arrive at your mailbox so that you get them instantly. It's Very handy, andyou can even set it up so that it doesn't push any emails in the weekends! :) Tip: The application doesn't work with the normal "TDC WAP 3G+GPRS" setting, since it uses a proxy. You have go use a non proxy setting. You can get the TDC non proxy setting by going here and choosing the "internet" setting.

Only Dedicated case for N95 8GB

The dedicated carrying case for the Nokia N95 8GB – just open the case and slide :)

This stylish wallet covers and helps protect while giving you full access to all keys and functions on your N95 8GB. It's design is rather simplistic and seems to be a "sideways" model of the Original Nokia Case for the Classic N95 - while the N95 Classic case opens in a portrait form the 8GB case opens landscape.

When closed the holster is kept in place by a groove on the leather. Upon close inspection,it seems that the materials used are also the same as that of the Classic case - including leather and the material inside.

Selling at $26.95,the product usually ships within 6 days from Expansys if you're in the US. You can Buy it Here, though I'd suggest waiting out till Vaja brings out their version, their N95 Ivolouton Holster turned out to be a helluve winner in my review !

    Get hold of your bearings!

Y-Inclinometer by Dr. Jukka is a simple app that displays vehicle angle while off-roading or climbing a bridge, or while simply driving in India! Just fix your phone in a secure cradle andngle it so that it is perfectly upright in your vehicle. Then launch the app!

But make sure that you don’t lose your bearings and flip your vehicle while enjoying some off-road fun. And don’t do anything stupid like testing Y-Inclinometer’s readings to the limits - that could tilt things too much for your car to handle!!

    -->Download<--

P.S: After installation the app won't show in the regular application menu, it will be in a new folder named as "Dr.Jukka.com". Have fun!

iGo Sierra - i luv it!!

Superb setup, excellent feel, slick designing
albeit a finger-print magnet for a cover, but more importantly - it takes care of
    the N95 typing bug! :)
And finally I have received the Stowaway Sierra Keyboard from the guys at iGo - the same guys who brought out the iGo Juice 70 and other cool stuff.

At first glance, the gleaming body itself lets you justify spending your hard-earned bucks on this great device. The external casing comes in a smooth fluid metallic silver that gives it a really slick look(although it turns out to be quite a magnet for finger prints, but hey! who's perfect??)

Press the button at the middle and it opens up like a book and unfolds into all it's glory..This star performer of ours turns out to be quite different inside..no wonder they said never to judge a book by it's cover! ;)

The gleaming metal outside gives way to a black matte finish inside while opening up to a 100% full size keyboard, complete with a 5 row keyboard including dedicated numerical keys - all this while managing to weigh a mere 6 oz!! ( i bet all u models out there envy this :D)

The drivers for the Sierra are available over the air, made availableby iGo. But it sems they haven't updated the their site with the n95drivers - as yet(hope it does come soon).

The range for this device is very good even though we wouldn't need it... how far away would it be possible for you to sit and read from your tiny mobile screen!

Of course it is possible to connect the N95 to a TV screen, which when used along with the Sierra would give you a real neat computing experience - whether it's for gaming or surfin' the net or blogging!

Just make sure you've got a spare AAA battery in case the charge dies out while you're shooting up people in GTA or driving thru in NFS or ..[bated breath]..busy blogging!!

One of the problems that I've found on the design side of the keyboard is that after some use the "Insert key" on the keyboard which also hot links to the Web Application tends to bend a little to the left side.

Upon closer inspection, I've put this down to the pressure exerted by the key coming opposite to it when the keyboard is closed - namely the "M" Key. Unlike the other keys, this particular key only comes in contact with half of the Insert/Web button thus possibly deforming the pad on which it rests.

This problem is in no way to be considered a major one, as it isn't seen easily even if you look for it. Nothing to worry about as the keyboard is still as fantastic as it used to be.. :)

    Sierra UnboKSing!

This here is the unboxing ceremony of the Sierra Bluetooth Keyboard sent to me by iGo - the makers of the original Stowaway portable keyboard.

I jus love that gleaming mettalic body work, don't you?!
