Comparison: Indian Mobile Broadband Providers

Broadband in India used to be anything above 256Kbps, but now we have broadband plans of 16Mbps and more. Wireless broadband connections are also becoming better in India compared to previous speeds of 150Kbps. Most of the mobile operators and ISPs now have high speed USB based modems which get you speeds of upto 3.1 Mbps. Here we compare the different plans and coverage of high speed Wireless Internet in India.

The major high speed mobile broadband deals in India are provided by Reliance Netconnect, Tata Indicom Photon+, Virgin Mobile, BSNL and MTS. When it comes to the price of USB modems, almost all the ISPs are have almost the same price of around 3500/-. Coverage wise, Tata Photon emerges the clear winner although we are not sure about the BSNL EVDO coverage. When it comes to data plans, BSNL is the clear winner here with 650/- for unlimited data transfer, but the speed is 2.4 Mbps when compared to 3.1 Mbps offered by others. Personally i consider this to be not much of a difference.

If you are a frequent traveler, we would suggest you to take Tata Photon+ as it has the best coverage in India.

Customer feedback aggregated from various sites show that most users are frustrated by the Reliance Netconnect and Tata Photon plus services so I would advice you do further research and internet comparison before going for them.
