NGage Next Gen - All you can see

Here's a link to all the pictures you'll ever want concerning the New Ngage Next gen app which is due to (hopefully) come out optimistically by next month, and pessimistically by next year ;)

ARGH n95 Screen Flip?

I saw this post at the Nokia Forums the other day. It seems someone's N95 has decided to incorporate Samir's rotateMe app all by itself - ending up rather Topsy-Turvy..
This is the post:

Okay my n95 has started flipping the screen upside down (neither of the two regular ways it would go) randomly. Especially if I turn it off and on again. Any suggestions?

If any of you can help him out, please do so - this is the link.

Mail for Exchange

If you're using Exchange for the corporate email, you should install the Mail for Exchange application. Mail For Exchange program will provide you with access to your Exchange mailbox.which also features push email. This way you won't have to check for emails each time, the email are pushed to your phone the second they arrive at your mailbox so that you get them instantly. It's Very handy, andyou can even set it up so that it doesn't push any emails in the weekends! :) Tip: The application doesn't work with the normal "TDC WAP 3G+GPRS" setting, since it uses a proxy. You have go use a non proxy setting. You can get the TDC non proxy setting by going here and choosing the "internet" setting.

nice..

Nice little video but I saw it a few days too late I guess :( Guess being on the Information Super High Way by itself won't get you anywhere, you need to have an aim.. Anyways here's the video for all of you who'd missed out on it as well...Special thanks to Clement Clarke Moore, and to all of you out there, be safe, be happy, and enjoy life to the full.

Why NokMote is bigger than we think!

A few days ago I'd posted here about Samir's latest 3D Accelerator based app, the NokMote. But unlike previously shown where it was basically touted to be just a menu controller, Waynder from Symbian-Freak has shown that it does a much better job in turning the phone into a game controler - similar to the Nintedo Wii.

The moment the NGage app gets released, the Mobile Gaming World is going to undergo a reveloution, with possible side-shocks hitting the likes of the Sony PSP,Nintendo GBA, and maybe even the PS3&XBoX! After all using the N95 all Ngage games are playable on TV . We are on the verge of a new era in Gaming, that's for sure!

And we bring to you..

Hey guys and gals! Guess what, Nokia's very own WOM-World is going to send me a N800 next week so that I can spend some time reviewing it. And since I won't be needing my N95 then, I'm going to send it off on a vacation - to the Nokia Care Center - for some rejuvination therapy ;) It seems to be a little out of shape lately, with creaking slides, light leaking sides, and a multimedia button that makes a ticking sound..not to mention the system crashes! They seem to have increased after I updated to v20!! It's been long since I've played with a touch screen..my last touch was a 7710. Anyways, the N800 posts will start rolling in a week, so if anyone has anything that you want me to try out on it, just ask. Ciao!

NokMote in action!

Our beloved Samir, the creator of RotateMe is going to bring out yet another great app, and this one too is based on the newly found 3d accelerometer of the N95 and other similar smart phones running the S60 V3 platform. This app allows you to control your phone completely using shakes and turns. Really nice way to get things done when your alone, but in public, people may laugh at you.. ;)

It's called the NokMote..(rolling drums)...

N95 Popcorn Magic!

It comes buttered too! but that's beside the point. But I should ask you to not try this at home! Not because it's dangerous or anything, but because the pop corn may get into your slider which could make it all squeaky like! ;)

Nokia N96??!

Symbian Freak has got it's hands on a load of pics of the N96 that's been leaked into their inbox, but they don't seem to be too happy with the phone. One of the reasons touted being that it has a crappy LED flash - but there are 2 crappy LED flashes actually, so I think I wouldn't mind that ;) Anyways the handset does look cool in a N81 kinda way,.. Honestly I don't think it's good enough to be with the N9* series - it belongs with the N8*. Wonder who takes care of naming these sets over at Nokia..?

Another speciality of this set is that it runs on Series60 3rd Edition FP2 - now that's more than good enough reason to go for this phone I'm sure. I'll be posting a review about the FP2 OS soon..watch this space for a link!
Read more about the N96 here.

Getting the low down on my N95

Only recently did i realize how much more i had to learn about my precious little Multimedia Computer Phone that the N95 is.. but simply googling for it didn't bring out any more than the usual" N95 for 250$" offers and a slew of free ware apps and review pages. Which is when i remembered my old pal - Wikipedia. I usually only go there for getting info on projects and seminars that i'd wanted to do for college, so i thought why not? Wikipedia must have got something interesting to say about my phone,, and so i clicked on Go in the Wikipedia HomePage. Go ahead click on it to see what I saw! They've got everything over there from the A-GPS details to the acceleromoter - even the technical specs are given clearly in the Specification sheet!

Symbian Guru released the new software Phone Wallet – security software which keeps your confidential info safe and secure and organizes your data in your personal way.

Phone Wallet secures your personal and confidential information using strong data encryption algorithms, so the data is not available to others and is secure, even after the disk dump of the phone. To access your data you should enter the correct password.

You may enter any information you need to keep secure, from passwords to the credit card numbers and you can be certain that everything is safe. There are many preinstalled folders and data types with icons. You can easily add or delete folders, records or fields, everything can be set according to customers’ wishes. You can organise data as you wish. There are no limits to numbers of records, fields and folders. You can create as many fields or records as you wish and need.

To get this application more secure, the autolock function was implemented. After some period of time the application gets locked, for example after some idle time. Also it gets locked in background, for example when you have no time to close the application and should answer the urgent call; application gets closed automatically.

    rotateMe v2.0 Beta 5 released

Samir is going to publish the rotateMe v2.0 Beta 5 for the public due to the humungous amounts of e-mails that he recieved recquesting him to do so.

There are lors of new features in this Version of his great app which includes(at last!) a feature to hide the app from the task manager. Move over here to get more info and click here to get the app! Remember though that the app is unsigned, you'll have to sign it yourself.

    Nokias little game..

Nokia has published a little game in which you are in room and have to get to a secret meeting. Inorder to win the game you'll have to find certain things that are hidden in the room along with (obviously) an N95. Move on to this page inorder to play the game..May your N95 be with You! And if you do win, tell me how you got the Key to the Suitcase willya! ;)

Ten pros and cons for the N95 - 1vs2

It' sleek and black. It's got 128Mb of RAM. The dual processors clocked at 320 Mhz take care of things no matter how hard they are shoved at them. Demand paging makes the new N95-2 a super zippy device and the 8GB of embedded memory sure is indeed a great deal of space. The screen is a lot larger than you'd think from the stats and it's stunningly bright not to mention how it has been brought ot be flush with the device. There's 25% more juice in the battery and a slew of other tasty features... but is there a price to pay?

Of course! You should know by now that not even Nokia can create the perfect device for every user (they purposefull do so!business tactics?) - so here's a list of ten pros and ten cons that I've come up with over the past month of exposure to this new variant of "the legendary", the Nokia N95 8GB aka N95-2.

CLick here to read the whole story written by PseudoFinn.

    N82 impressions..

Arshdeep Brar of the Nokia N-series Blog has posted his first impressons about the Nokia N82 that's just been released in India.. Seems he really loves the handset. Arshdeep has covered almost everything that recquires mention about the N82 , inclusing an in depth log of it's 1050mAh battery, in his own style of explanation. It's really nice..

    Your very own personal translator-N95

Our great N95, the phone that had almost all the features that you'd wish to have on a smartphone, has just got better by adding yet another feature - and this one beats them all! This is the deal - Nokia has come up with a prototype camera phone application which, among other things, will reportedly make ordering dinner from your favourite foreign restaurant easier.
Named Point & Find, the app incorporates numerous elements such as image recognition, GPS positioning and artificial intelligence algorithms to find out what you clicked! . Bear in mind though, that the actual working out of what image you may have snapped will be done on your network provider’s server because AI and Image Recognition recquires some serious processing power. This is not to say that the N95 is low on this! Once you have taken your photo the phone will connect to the net and hopes are it will provide the user with a selection of online purchase options, or in the case of say a movie image it will show movie reviews, or whatever it can find up on the net.
Yet there’s more, Nokia have hopes of designing the concept to include the translation of foreign restaurant menus as well, so if you visit say a French cuisine restaurant where the menu is in French, just whip you mobile out, snap a picture of the menu and get it translated right there on your mobile screen. Apparently Nokia claims the prototype application is presently able to scan and translate 600 Japanese and 9000 Chinese words, still a bit of a way to go then before they cover all the bases, but Hey! It's still a great start!

    Slow Performance on the N95-2

You may have the latest firmware V 11.0.026 01-11-07 RM-320 Nokia (16.01) but your phone still seems to be slow?? Don't worry 'cuz you're just one of many users who have had the similar problem - and it may just be a side effect of tha main reason why you bought the N95-2 the first place - namely the 8GB storage.

At the Nokia Forums, the debate seems to be goiing in full swing on this one,

    patc Mobile Guru Says:

I *think* the Gallery scans the card when you open it .. at least, logic
says it must as it finds new files without having to be manually refreshed like
the music player. If it does, then having a larger card with more files would
mean the phone taking a bit longer to work its way through the list of
    files.

If any of you guys feel differently do let me know..

    Nokia Energy Profiler

Fed up with those battery drinking programs that you've installed lately? Well why don't you un-install them then? Or is it that you can't find which apps are good on mileage and which are not? Fear no more, with the Nokia Energy Profiler you'll be able to get the battery drain for a particular app in real time! Ofcourse it's of particular use to developers, but there's nothign in it that say we can't use it.

With the help of a Red dot and graph, it will show exactly hoe the app used up your battery.. neat eH?

    N82 vs N95-1 - Speed Test

All in all you can say, that both phones are pretty fast. Nevertheless the N82 is a little bit faster than the N95. It needs 3 seconds less to boot and also some seconds less to save a picture. However, it’s really mind-blowing when you compare the speed improvement of the new N95 firmware. Maybe the N82 becomes even faster with a new firmware, which I would welcome.

    Read it here.

Awesome blog post. But WHICH one actually got a signal on the network first? Hmm.

Man I love this N82 more & more. The speed improvement is amazing with the updated firmware for the N95.But I’m sure that when N82 gets an update it will become even more faster.Nice job man :-)

    iPhonic N95

Check out this video that shows an N95 with a iPhone style touchscreen!! It's fake ofcourse :) Psst..Most probably it's done with a bluetooth keyboard. Don't tell any1! Besides whoever heard of a touchscreen N95 anyway?!! But I must agree that th idea seems to be a little enticing..if only it had a bigger screen...

YouTube yourself on your s60 v3 phone!

Now this is what I've been waiting for a long, long time - they had promised it with the v21 firmware for the N95, but then they took it back, giving us a v20. But now we can have it without the firmware update thanks to MobiTubia.

MobiTubia is a Flash Lite video player and YouTube application for the S60 platform. It enables mobile users to access flv clips(read as youtube's videos) using several different methods. Additionally, the application allows users to browse and search for specific content on YouTube right from your mobile making things way easier.

It is not a browser plugin, but a very nice solution to play YouTube on S60 devices. The application is not available yet, but once it is I'll right up in front to get it! :)

Here's a video showing it in action

The secret of the (almost) lost N95 headset

Maciek from Chicago recently ran into trouble with his N95 headset when he sold it to his friend - apparently the headset refused to work because of the change in ownership and decided to be out on strike! Of course Maciek and his friend soon found a solution to this problem and in the end all turned out to well or as they say - all's well that ends well..
