Accessories: Samsung Galaxy S2

The new Galaxy S2 accessories - the Mugen Battery and Back Cover and the Samsung Sound Station - both a bit different in that they're not only awesome but perform pretty well too!

Nokia N8: Get Angry Birds

Every Nokia owner is excited about the Nokia Angry Birds cases  - and they're finally here! =) MobileFun has got the cases for the N8 (red, green & black), C6 (black, red & green), C7 (red) and E7 (red, green & black). They have come into stock this week and news is in that they're already flying off the shelves.  That's no surprise as everyone loves Angry Birds!

iPhone 4 dual sim case - Rebel

A great iPhone 4 accessory that arrived on my desk this week was the Rebel 2Phone Dual SIM Case, a clever case which houses a second SIM, meaning you can have two phone lines connected to your iPhone. It's a great idea for business people who want to have both their work and personal lines on the same handset.

MARWARE for the Apple iPad2

The Marware Eco-Vue Case and the Targus Rotating Case.  With the Targus, it allows you to rotate your iPad2 whilst it's in the case, meaning you can use your iPad in both portrait and landscape angles whilst it's in the desk stand position.  The Marware cases we've been waiting for for a while, so we're really pleased they're finally in stock because they're great quality and the Eco-Vue is environmentally friendly because it's made from eco-leather.

Angry Birds and Rio

This new trailer is more funnier than the last one I posted a few weeks back. The previous one was on the lines of the LoonyToons but this time they've taken on 20th Century Fox ! =D and the video sure is funny, I Love it!

Thoughts: Samsung Galaxy S2

Until recently trends had shown Apple innovating and coming up with new devices with every other manufacturer out there immediately following suit and trying to get their share of the pie - a pie that's all crust and no filling.

But for Samsung playing second fiddle doesn't cut it anymore. Being the OEM manufacturer for most of the top-selling devices seems to have driven them to put an end to their copycat days with the recent launch of the Galaxy S2.

The Galaxy S2 boasts Samsung’s very own Exynos chipset, the unmatched Super AMOLED Plus display and the ultra-slim body. And this is just the beginning of it's amazing spec sheet.

Some amazing features:

  •  Android OS v2.3.3 with TouchWiz 4 launcher
  •  1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset, 1GB of RAM
  •  8 MP wide-angle lens autofocus camera with LED flash, face, smile and blink detection
  •  1080p HD video recording at 30fps
  •  Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n support
  •  Extremely slim waistline at only 8.5mm and low weight (116g)
  •  2MP secondary video-call camera
  •  Full Flash support and GPU-acceleration for the web browser permit 1080p flash video playback
  •  NFC support (optional, not without a software update)

Main Disadvantages:
  • All-plastic body
  • No dedicated camera key
  • Super slim body has poor grip when taking pictures
  • Non-hot-swappable microSD card
The absence of the microSD can be partly offset by the generous inbuilt NAND memory being offered. The all-plastic body and the slim profile of the phone looks good when you have the device on a table - but that's where it ends. The plastic feels tacky and even though I've got small hands the thin body makes holding it a sore. I can't imagine how it will be for people with bigger hands.

But as always there's a way to make the most out of this :)

Iphone 4 Wow keyboard

I got to look at the new Wow-Keys Keyboard this week, which is available for pre-order now.  It's possibly one of the coolest keyboards I've seen as it docks your iPhone 4 (in it's case!) then lets you switch between typing on your PC and typing on your iPhone 4 - all at the push of a button.  Plus it charges and syncs your phone whilst it's docked and even integrates your phone to be part of the keyboard, allowing you to use it as a trackpad or a number pad.  This is definitely on my birthday list!

Case and Lock your iPad 2

There's a great solution for those who travel a lot or use their iPads in public places - the Security Case and Lock for iPad/iPad 2, which comes with a steel cable that you can attach to an area (say a table leg in a cafe) and then secure the lock-head to the iPad case, making it pretty tough to steal your iPad.  Pretty cool and it's just under £60, which is nothing for having some peace of mind.

Another great iPad 2 accessory that we've got is for musicians, speakers or singers - It's a little bit clever - it's called the iKlip.  What the iKlip does, is it attaches to a microphone stand, at any height and rotation and allows you to take your iPad onto a stage with you.  So if you're a speaker, you can have your notes and control presentations from in front of you on your iPad in a professional manner.  Or if you're a musician, you can display your music on your iPad, saving the need for paper (go green!).  It's not out yet and the price hasn't been confirmed, but it's a good product to look out for.

Accessories for the Apple iPad2

What the KleverCase does is simply disguise your gadget as a famous work of fiction e.g Dracula or A Midsummer Night's Dream.  There's quite a few different titles to choose from too.

The Keycase Folio for iPad - this became mobilefuns biggest selling iPad accessory ever, so they're hoping to repeat the success this year with the Keycase Pro Folio for iPad 2.  What's makes the Keycase Pro Folio so good is that the keyboard has hard keys as oppose to the silicone keys most bluetooth keyboards have.  The material of the folio has also been improved upon and it now has a Velcro strip inside which holds the iPad in place when it's standing at an angle - meaning multiple viewing angles!  Chris has done a video highlighting the major differences between this folio and the old one - you can have a nose at it here and feel free to use it in any of your posts :)

Finally the ultimate in Smart Cover Compatible Cases the Incipio Smart feather which comes in both white or black.  Unlike any other smart cover compatible case the Smart Feather actually connects to the Apple Smart cover, by the lip of the Incipio case hooking over the rim of the Apple Smart Cover: this gives the appearance of one case rather than two.  At just under £30, the Incipio Smart feather is a great price and it even comes complete with screen protector meaning you have full protection once it's teamed up with your Apple Smart Cover.

HTC Evo 3D Docking station

MobileFun just got hold of details about the HTC Desktop docking station for the Evo 3D. Available for just 35GBP, this is one hot gadget. It sports a pretty minimilastic design and is pretty similar in functionality to the Henge docking station that is available for the Apple Macbook Pro. It allows an easy way to connect your device and stream video over to your display - at 1080p! And while it's at it, the dock charges your device too.

Get more details here from mobilefun.co.uk.

First Impression: Apple MatteBook Pro Core i7 2.66 GHz 15"

My first Mac is on it's way, and here are some pics of this baby.
Ofcourse with all the negative opinion about the 2011 MBPS, I figured that I'd go for the 2010 model. Being a h8r of glossy screens I naturally selected the Hi-Res Matte screen. Glossy gives me teary glassy eyes. Besides I also get a weight reduction of 200gms since it lacks the slab of glass..

Benchmarking
I did a test run of cinebench, and the results were amazing to say the least. Not only did this refurbished machine give the promised benchmarks it also topped all the benchmark scores from similarly built MBPs at the Cinebench database. Amazing!
