S60v5: TouchCalc Lite

TouchCalc is developed specially for touchscreen devices. Large keys make
entering computations easy, and various input assistance features make
accessing the wide library of supported functions easier. Nokia N97/N97
mini users also can use a keyboard optimised view.

Formulas and terms can be entered into the program as they are written
in the real world – for TouchCalc, 5+5*5 is 30 and not 50.

Five memory banks allow you to store and retrieve results of
calculations with but two clicks. Of course, their values are persisted
even on power-off.

Finally, TouchCalc Lite contains a high-performance graphing engine
which can plot each and every function supported by TouchCalc in blazing
speed and amazing clarity. Ever wondered how a sine looks? TouchCalc
knows…

TouchCalc Lite can be purchased for 3 Euros via the Ovi Store
(http://store.ovi.com/content/23527); a version for Sony Ericsson‘s
phones will be made available in the near future.

Nokia n97 mini vs the Nokia n97

The Nokia n97 and the Nokia n97mini. Two helluva smartphones, just minute differences from each other. I'm fed up of talking about their differences because there aren't that many to tell. Just the form factor, and memory differences. And it was then that i happened to stumble upon a blog post that had a pictorial post about the differences between these two smartphones. All thanks to symbian-lifeblog !

My Next Phone: The Search begins

The Nokia N95 which had been my primary phone for the past 3 years has started to give in to the effects of time. As of today it has a changed slider (2008), a display strip swap(2009), a ear piece swap(2009), and 3 fascia changes. The insides resemble a war torn land with a plethora of scratches and stains. Pictures are too filled with gore to be published here comfortably. Yet I still loved the phone..

But yesterday it started giving me button problems and when this problem crops up in the middle of typing a message frustration sets in. And so I decided it was high time to get me a new handset, and thus I enter the market.

My Needs:
  1. Big screen.
  2. Make that a big touch screen.
  3. Atleast a 5 MP camera.
  4. Above average music playback through the 3.5mm jack.
  5. Good text input.
  6. Must fit in my jeans.
  7. Stable OS.
  8. Within 500$

Nokia n97s: thoughts on both of them

I've been using the n97 for the last couple of months. It's a great
phone if you're into social networking and surfin' the web. It's
durable, good build, and has good battery life.
It's external speakers are only good for voice output, use headphones
if you want to hear music - it's headphone output is real good. The
screen is virtually scratch proof, and the qwerty keyboard is good as
well.
Between this and the mini, the mini has subtle design differences like
no D pad, no camera lens cover, and only 8 gb of storage but since
it's expandable there's no problems. The mini feels better in your hand.

Nokia n97 mini: working it's way to us

Nokia n97 mini - the mini cooper of social networking smartphones has
been cleared by the FCC for sale in the United States of America.
Along with this model of the Nokia nseries, comes other 2 phones that
have been submitted by Nokia for clearance - a RM-385 which is the
Nokia 3608, and a RH-128. From my experience the RH phone probably
would end up to be some low end phone as most rh series are budget
phones and the best that series has done is the nGage QD which soon
ended up as software.
